WOW!

So I made my way in Payless because I always find hidden treasures in there. I got my pair of Chrisitian Siriano’s from there and they always make people mouths drop because they can’t believe they are from there. I was looking to see if I could find this clutch from Lela Rose that I am obsessed with but it is $30 and I am definitely not spending that much on it. I found this huge clutch from Chrisitian Siriano while on my hunt and it was extra cute but a little too steep for Payless.

So I happened to venture off into the 9 and 9 1/2 section which is so not my size but I just wanted to see what they had to offer and I found some Chrisitan Siriano’s that hit the runway last year.

LOOK WHAT I FOUND!

If they had these in my size I would have so gotten them. I could see those shoes in a sick, crazy photoshoot. I might stay on the lookout for those.

Take Me Elsewhere

I made a very productive and great trip to Greensboro, NC. I have found this city from going to school there to have some pretty cool and neat places to go to especially in downtown Greensboro, love that area of Greensboro. I went to lunch with my little bro and we went to this cool place that everyone talks about called Mellow Mushroom.

The history of this place is that in 1974 three students decided to open a different type of restaurant that reflected their eccentric philosophies, progressive values, and relentless pursuit of quality. They started in Georgia by purchasing an old, beat up building on Spring Street, near Georgia Tech. These guys were smart because the two things that most college kids depend on are two major food groups known as pizza and beer. They were geniuses! =) Today their are 100 restaurants spread across 15 states.

They have some great pizza! We ended up getting the Ceasar pizza which had an actual salad on top of the pizza, it was so good. =)

Take a look:

Next, we went to this place called Elsewhere which is now a museum. There was a woman who owned a thrift store where she collected all kinds of things but she died and they turned it into a museum. It is non-profit and they ask for a $1 donation. I saw some stuff in there that I remember having as a child, it was crazy. I had so much fun in there. There were little barbie toys that you got with your kiddie meal back in the day from McDonald’s (how I sometimes miss being a kid). They had tons of fabric, looks almost like my collection from my job. They even had a confessional, I kept trying to record something on the tape recorder but it wasn’t working for us. I was going to write something in the book they had but I couldn’t find any empty space…still wondering what I would have written. They had this cool bouncy piano thing on the wall. You would throw a bouncy ball at it and it would make a sound. We were having too much fun with this creation, we had the people working there cracking up at us. Next I found a wheel chair and decided to ride around in it…LOL…hilarious.

Take a look at some of the stuff in Elsewhere:

Can I Get A Window Seat?

I wasn’t going to post anything about this music video because it seems to be on everyone’s blog but once I found out from reading Mean and Chic’s blog that Erykah Badu didn’t have any extras in the video, my mouth dropped. That woman is a bad b*tch (excuse my french) but that takes some guts and she definitely sent a message with that video in more ways than one. I felt like she touched on a lot of topics of today and how we are quick to judge something that is different or we don’t understand. I don’t condon walking down the street naked and walking around half naked in public, just not cool or classy.

I love E. Badu for her boldness…….she is amazing, it goes hand and hand with her music. Her album drops today!

LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

nightshade

I’d like to have
a picture of you
like this
in the dark shade,
nightshade

In dreams
You look like this; Real.
So I’m not afraid to touch, to Feel.
Close up on all the lovely ones
that you can only see
in the dark Shade,
NightShade.

Ooh I wanna take u home
But I don’t know what you’re like
In the light
Give me
NightShade

Kiss
me if you want
cause I don’t belong
to anyone.
Fingers moving where they want to be
Free.
keep me dancing I just want to see
You in
NightShade

Ooh I wanna take u home
But I don’t know what you’re like
In the light
Give me
NightShade

You are a lovely one!
NightShade,
DarkShade

Ooh I wanna take u home
But I don’t know what you’re like
In the light
Give me
NightShade

I’d like to have
a little memory of you
In the
DarkShade
NightShade.

DC has some TRUE DIVAS with Talent

The Diva Lounge networking event for women only went really well. I ran into some familiar faces and got to meet some that I have heard so much about or have been checking out their blog for a while.

Here is the run down of some of the great people I met:

Ally from She Blogs
This is the second time I am running into her. I met her at a trunkshow in NY. She is from the DMV area. She is a very cool person and I look forward to definitely keeping in contact. She was also one of the honorees for the event, congrats to THAT!

I was also lucky enough to meet the person I have heard so much about through online media, the infamous Joi-Marie with The Fab Empire

Kiara Pesante which is a media journalist (she does it all). We actually met way before this event from a mutual friend and she is pretty great. Check her out at her website http://www.kiarapesante.com/

Chance Jackson with ACE Magazine. This magazine immediately caught my eye as I was sitting down and I couldn’t keep my eyes off the cover or the model in the magazine. I shall be getting a copy in the mail very soon and I shall do a post about the magazine.

Here is a pic of me, Sarea, and Kia from DMV Unplugged at the Diva Lounge Networking Party
