Weekend Edition Cabin Fever

So this weekend was cabin weekend for a friend’s birthday….well a late birthday outing, but such a great idea.  This cabin was in the boonies, like there weren’t any black people to be found in this town.  I think this white guy was trying to flirt, LOL! It was just crazy going somewhere where there weren’t any black people, I was shocked.

One thing that I can say was amazing when we weren’t driving in the pitch black dark was the mountains, like wow….they were a site to see, I was in awe. It was some great, peaceful scenery.  This is definitely a great place to go to, to escape the real world.

Well anyway onto briefly describe the weekend.  Some details will be left out due to the privacy of the others at the house…LOL.  To sum the weekend up here are words to describe it jacuzzi, coconut ciroc, everclear *yikes twice*, KINGS, jenga with a twist, Hot Tub Time Machine, grilled chicken *yummy yummy for your tummy*, and SMORES!!!!!

Take a peak at some of the snapshots:

SMORES!!!

The red cup of DEATH!  LOL!
Almost lost the key #YIKES

Things to Get Into…..

Something to do on Saturday

Exhibit at Anacostia Community Museum

We know, the Nats have you down. Again. The solution: bask in when DC baseball was exciting. Dominant, even. The exhibit “Separate and Unequaled” will boost your civic pride as it looks at the Homestead Grays and other semi-pro teams, and stars like Josh Gibson and Buck Leonard. The Pudge and Zim of their day.

On view indefinitely, Anacostia Community Museum, 1901 Fort Pl SE, 202-633-4820

Sunday Events

20 Wines for $20 at Cork

14th Street is currently your favorite boulevard for boozy exploits. (Go ahead, call it “The Strip.”) Even on Sunday afternoon. Which is when the wine-centric bar and its gourmet-shop sibling are pouring tastes of 20 French wines off their lists, all for 20 bucks. You like nice round numbers.

Aug 29, 3pm, $20, Cork, 1720 14th St NW, 202-265-2675, email TASTINGS@CORKDC.COM to RSVP

Snoop Dogg + Scantily Clad Women = …

Now, we know you’re not the type to frequent an adult establishment. But when you can get prime steaks and rub elbows with Snoop Dogg during the official Rock the Bells after-party, you’ll make an exception. Besides, you want to hand him your mixtape.

Aug 29, doors at 8pm, $40, Stadium Club, 2127 Queens Chapel Rd NE, 202-269-4477

Dear Diary,

My…my…my…it’s been a while and wow at all that has happened since the last entry.  I am over here getting excited at NY’s Fashion Night Out!  My friends and I have some things lined up for the night and we are planning on going to 2 or 3 events if it’s not lines out the wazoo! I am just thinking about what to wear and NY is a place where I could come outside in my underwear and the day will go along as normal…LMAO! Not saying I would do that, but my outfit will be pretty outrageous just because I can do that in NY.  I am hoping that it’s cool so I can wear my yellow boots, those things are hot tamales!!!!! We will see.  This is something I can look forward to.  It’s like NY is my fantasy world and DC is just the “real world” that I am so over.

To fashionable days in the near future,

Advertising at it’s BEST

I get all kinds of emails about parties and happy hours and they are all THE SAME! A typical party flyer or email consists of a pretty girl or whomever did the flyer thinks is pretty, doing some kind of model pose or even a celebrity that is 99.9% not going to be at the party. *News FLASH*, that is not going to make me want to go to that party. The key to success is to be different and that is why I must give a huge shoutout to whoever did this flyer. This was so different and out the box that it made me look at it more than once like hmmmmm, what is this party about?!  I actually read this flyer to see what is was about.  I don’t normally read flyers, just skim through then press delete!

Franky J Has Captured Your Style ATL Style

So while at Little Five Points with my bff, he spotted some pretty trendy people that we both seemed to be eyeing. They looked fresh out of an American Apparel advertisement or even an Urban Outfitters catalog.  I thought their outfits were effortlessly put together and that they were probably not even thinking about what they were putting on.  I think those outfits can turn out to be the best for those that are pretty trendy *wink*.

Fashion For Freedom Pictures

I have been waiting on these pictures since FOREVER! LOL! I looked through the album and got a few chuckles but here are some pictures that I liked and that were acceptable for showing.

Weekend Edition in ATL SHAWTY

So where do I begin? Oh yeah, so my trip starts out perfect with me getting to the airport with enough time so I don’t have to use my track skills, lol, to run across the airport.  My plane gets there on time and everything, we are heading in the line up to get on the runway for them to say ok we have been asked to hold.  At first I’m like wow, it’s really not meant for me to get to ATL.  Next, we find out that it’s the weather and I actually witnessed some of the lightening while in the air on the plane.  I shut my shutter on my window immediately on the plane. The ride wasn’t as bumpy as I thought it was going to be but we were riding through some crazy clouds, had me a little frightened because mother nature is not one to play with.  So we land and I can breathe again LOL!!!! I can see the lightening but it’s not bad at all. I guess between me getting to the baggage claim, everything changes and due to the lightening storm actually getting there, we can’t get any of our bags that we checked.  I sit in the airport for almost 3 hours but luckily my friends live close by and they just drove back home because the wait was ridiculous which reminds me that I need to write a letter to AirTran because I need a free flight or money reimbursement or something.

My bag finally comes and I finally meet up with my friends despite the traffic going 5 miles an hour around the airport and I am given the gift of a magical drink upon entering the car and I am good to go.  I get ready for my night and I wear my suede lavender beauties to step out the car to walk right in a puddle but thank goodness for the suede protector I put on my shoes but this puddle was serious.  This club was something new for me but when I say I had a blast, I had a blast and got to see friends I haven’t seen in FOREVER!  I had a little model battling session, I just can’t help myself…LOL.  I had a blast!

The next day, me and my best friend were suppose to go to a dance class but I got up, looked at how early it was and realized how crazy I felt and passed back out.  We totally missed the class…LOL! Saturday was a day of Little Five Points and margaritas. I found some AA shorts that were only $12 at a huge consignment shop called Rag-O-Rama, you can’t beat that and they were a hit for my night outfit. We also went to this place called Arden’s Garden and they make fresh and healthy smoothies.  It gave me some energy because my Subway sandwich I got was horrible which meant it was left to go to waste. I went past a stand where a young lady made crocheted earrings and she gave me a pretty good deal, can’t wait to wear those.  I went by a few other stores and one that stood out was WISH, wow….fellas if you are ever in ATL, please do yourself a favor and go downstairs and peep the shoes, a nice collection. I think by this point we were done and ready for margaritas and mexican food.  We went to El Azteca and when I say this food was so good, I can’t even compare it to anything….like nothing.  The margaritas were great and quite potent might I add.

Our night was freaking amazing thanks to the dj…..like wowzers and I was like it’s my last night in ATL so let’s party and we partied and at the end I gave a show…LMAO!!!! You had to be there….

Miss Me Video = BLAH

I just had to go in on this video.  Drake, if you are “23 with a money tree”, I need better music videos.  This video was not great at all, I felt like I could have done this video myself in my basement.  I love this song and wasn’t quite sure where he was going to go with it but I could have seen so much more happening with my huge imagination.

Like for starters, Lil Wayne was tuned in on the television. Then it looked like an old Lil Wayne video with all his woodies (sp.)…..it was just not good at all.  The girl in the video was cute but all she did was throw herself around like a rag doll and she probably got paid good money to do that.  When can I do that so I can quit my job??? LOL!!!

Drake, please don’t disappoint me with the next video.

Thanks…

DC, Turning into a Bike Only City?

I remember Mayor Adrian Fenty starting the whole bike rental locations throughout DC but I think DC is really trying to become a biking and walking only city.  Only time will tell with this one, but it would be extremely eco-friendly and would be affordable to those that are sick of paying these high prices for metro and those that also don’t want the high bill of a car note and insurance.

Well, let me introduce you to Capital Bikeshare which is offering a $50 a year membership for their September launch which is a true…true bargain and I am extra tempted but how much biking would I really be doing in the fall….*scratches head*. They also have prices if you only want to use it for a day or for a certain amount of hours.  This sounds extra neat to me and I need some kind of extracurricular because walking is no longer fun and I loved how my legs looked when I ran track.  So biking might become my next true passion.

On an even funnier note, the black guy that is used throughout the advertisements on the site, he definitely went to Wilson SHS….LOL.  You can’t escape these Wilson Tigers…LOL. =P
