R.I.P. Amy Whinehouse

It is so rare that I feed into the media hype but Amy Whinehouse dying at the young age of 27 is terrible. Like truly sad, but I refuse to judge. We all have the things that we know aren’t right that we do but I just hope that we all try to better ourselves.

This an artist that truly touched me with her music, like if you all could understand me. Here is one of the songs that really touched me.

Weekend FUN!

HEY GUYS!!!!!!!!

My weekend was full of birthday celebrations! On Friday I was off to an extremely bumpy start but my best friend came in town and saved the day! We headed to The W Hotel to celebrate one of my fashion girls in crime, Sarea. I love the ambiance at The W Hotel. It’s so grown and sexy and you can meet some pretty cool people there.

Here are some pictures:::::

Look who I ran into, congrats on your engagement! =)

My BFF, The Birthday Girl, Moi

This random guy gave me a compliment then asked for a pic, it was hard to say no….lol

Saturday was WINE FESTIVAL day for my friend Sade’s birthday! It was extremely bumpy start to this day. Plans changed, we left later than we were supposed to……we got lost from each other. It was a MESS! at first but as the day went on, we started to meet people and mingle. It turned out to be a lot of fun and next year I plan to go a lot earlier to get a good spot and enjoy everything they have to offer. We ended the night by going to a cookout that had a bonfire which was extra cool!

The Travels of a Tribe Called Quest Opens in THEATERS FRIDAY!!!!

Picture from Landmark Cinemas Website

Beats, Rhymes & Life: The Travels of A Tribe Called Quest is a documentary film directed by Michael Rapaport about one of the most influential and groundbreaking musical groups in hip-hop history. Having released five gold and platinum selling albums within eight years, A Tribe Called Quest has been one of the most commercially successful and artistically significant musical groups in recent history, and regarded as iconic pioneers of hip hop. The band’s sudden break-up in 1998 shocked the industry and saddened the scores of fans, whose appetite for the group’s innovative musical stylings never seems to diminish. A hard-core fan himself, Rapaport sets out on tour with A Tribe Called Quest in 2008, when they reunited to perform sold-out concerts across the country, almost ten years after the release of their last album, The Love Movement. As he travels with the band members (Q-Tip, Phife Dawg, Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Jarobi White), Rapaport captures the story of how their personal differences and unresolved conflicts continue to be a threat to their creative cohesion. When mounting tensions erupt backstage during a show in San Francisco, we get a behind-the-scenes look at their journey and contributions as a band and what currently is at stake for these long-time friends and collaborators.

Summer Time Fly Weekend!

So my weekend sorta started on Friday when I met up with my friend that I haven’t seen in almost a year! It was sooooo freakin great seeing her! We went to H St Country Club. When I say they have the best margarita I have had in my life, YUMMY! And cheaper than Alero’s. I shall be back. I did get a vegetarian burrito, I probably should have gotten it with chicken because it wasn’t that great. But anyway we had to catch up on almost 10 months lost of things that were going on in our lives….how we have changed but not in bad ways. =)

Here are some pics from the up and coming beautiful H St and me and QI QI! =)

On Sat, I feel like I did alot and I sort of did now that I think about it. I was at work from 9am to 5pm then went to pick up wine for my friend’s birthday party. I actually have a bottle left for my friend’s birthday this Sat, #winning! So anyway the apartment is nicely decorated and my friend Nae Nae has on the cutest dress and tiara! This turned into a serious house party. They played some old CCB and we jammed! LOL! Everyone was feeling quite lovely later during the night. SO mad I stopped taking pictures after a while. After this I met up with a friend to go to the midnight cookout, but we headed out there way too late so the police were there to shut it down. We decided that the night was not over and headed to crazy Adams Morgan, like it was ridiculously packed, but the diner was a cool stop.

Red Light Special….lol

Better pic of Dre and Karmin. HEY NOW! LOL!

The next day was Sunday where I had the day off and I relaxed most of the day since it was my first day off. I did get to see my chica Zena for her birthday!!! How fun, love this upbeat chic! We have a master plan too that I hope we get to get into more seriously! Exciting! I so stayed here way longer than I was supposed to, but my first day off, I did not feel like sitting in a meeting. So we celebrated Zena’s B-Day at Vapiano’s…..I literally ate all my food that I did not think I would finish. We had a blast and the red Sangria’s there are amazing!!!! We stayed here and talked for a while, girl talk, which I love! After this I did a shoot with Dizzy which is in the post before this one. This was fun but it was so hot out to be night.

After this I met up with my friend Kamiyla who lives in Cali and I haven’t seen her in forever! We started out waiting on our friend Toya then headed to U street and hit up Marvin’s but it was boring and most things on U street were closed so we headed to the area where The Park is and somehow started hanging with a random crew of cowokers/bachelor “party”….LOL….so random! We then decided what to do and piled in a cab with six of us and headed over to 18th street lounge. I got my life in this place! It is like an old mansion that is extra cool! There is one room with breakers, break dancing. It was DOPE! If I would have worn flats, I would have been joining in the circle grooving, I don’t know how to break dance…LOL. And so we discovered there was also an outdoor part which was just as cool as the inside. We could breathe out here and where we met some pretty cool people. It was people from everywhere there. This dude was salsa dancing with and he was from Colombia….crazy! I had a blast this night.

I had to have some matrimonials and some cheese quesadillas! It was delicious! We then headed to The Park to see Talib Kweli perform. He did pretty well and his dj, I bow to you, he did fantab!!!!!

Here are some pics from the evening:::

The next day was Sat which = NATS GAME DAY! I was super excited!!!! I went with my friend Michelle, check out blog here. This was an amazing experience even though we sweated our lives AWAY!!!! I know I got a tan…LOL! The game was against the Pirates so there of course some fans for them there and sitting right in front of us. It was some randomly fun moments and we actually stayed for just about the entire game. We had great seats for $2 and enjoyed the company around us. The Nats of course lost, but who cares? We had fun!

Afterwards I headed to a cookout where I saw lots of Aggies, felt like home again. We had soooooo much fun. Like if Aggies are together, we get it in!!!!! I had a lot fun!

After this Cafe Asia was the partying spot, I got to hang wit my homie Newt. I had a lot of fun at the party and Wale showed up. Apparently a lot of people missed Wale being there which was strange…LOL! He rocked! I had a blast!

Trice BIRTHDAY!!!!

My Sunday turned out to be pretty cool even though I stayed in the house the entire day. When I was ready to leave out, a storm was approaching so I just stayed in and ate and then later hung out with my girls and Ozzie….lol. Our first stop was Indulj to see Future Band. They did pretty good, I love live bands and then we stopped to meet the rest of the crew and we were off to The District. I had so much fun and made a new friend so a successful evening, indeed.

My Monday which was actually 4th of July was pretty chill. Went to brunch at my favorite place to go, Busboys and Poets. It was YUMMMY!!!!!! I had fun. I headed to some cookouts later which was cool. I was stuffed by cookout number dos. I pretty much called it an evening after that. My weekend was action packed and I enjoyed myself.
