I made my way to Zengo for the third time and got to flick some pictures this go round. I met up with one of my friends from high school. Wow how time flies…sheesh! But anyway back to this great food. We searched the menu for about 15 minutes trying to figure out the best items we could share and we came up with three.
The three winners were the Angry Zengo Roll, Lobster Roll, and Pork Carnitas Rice Noodles. We started off with the amazing margarita. Apparently Zengo has some of the best mixologists in the city. We got our drink within 10 minutes of ordering it and it was a secret weapon and it tasted great!
I unfortunately forgot to get a picture of the drink it was so delicious. This is the Spicy Zengo Roll which contains spicy yellowfish tuna, avocado, cucumber, sesame green onion, wasabi tobiko, and chipotle rouille. This is the Lobster Roll which contains yuzu-truffle cream cheese, avocado, minjinko rice puff, cucumber, and charred serran-white soy sauce.
This is the Pork Carnitas Rice noodles which was super filling with both of the rolls we had. This dish contains pork, mushroom, cashew, egg, and hot & sour sauce.
We decided we wanted to hit Bar Louie afterwards for dessert and I ordered the Tennessee Whiskey Cake which states you must be 21 to even eat it. This is a fresh baked caramel cake soaked with Jack Daniel’s Whiskey glaze.
My experience at Zengo was amazing! The food, drinks, and service was superb. It’s a little pricey so if you want to try it out, hit the Happy Hour where you can sample a few small plates and get to enjoy their great drinks for a lot cheaper than they usually are. I give Zengo a 5 out of 5.
Now my experience at Bar Louie is that it smells like a bar. The food is okay usually but that cake was pretty good. I just wish it was paired with ice cream as opposed to whip cream. The service also sucks here. You could be waiting for up to 20 minutes before anyone takes your order or even checks on you. I give Bar Louie a 2 out of 5.
