Red velvet pancakes & housemade chorizo breakfast sandwiches available starting Sunday, July 19 at Pennsylvania Avenue’s newest restaurant + bar
WASHINGTON, DC (July 15, 2015) – Capitol Hill’s newest restaurant, Stanton & Greene has just announced it will be launching all-day Sunday brunch, starting this Sunday, July 19th. Available every Sunday, “all day” from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Stanton & Greene’s new brunch menu features an array of shareable bites, and both savory and sweet larger plates, in addition to creative coffee- and beer-infused brunch cocktails for diners morning, afternoon and night.
The playful “Pigs in a Blanket” hit that perfect sweet-and-salty balance, featuring bites of housemade chorizo wrapped in pancake fry batter, dusted with powdered sugar and served with fresh blackberry maple syrup ($10). Fluffy Shrimp Fritters are speckled with charred summer corn and bell peppers, served alongside a roasted jalapeno cilantro aioli ($10), and the trio of Deviled Eggs comes with variety – charred & pickled jalapeno, chorizo & pimento cheese, and a classic deviled recipe with b&b pickles ($9).
Hearty savory dishes include Steak & Eggs, which gets an upscale modern twist with Wagyu beef, fried potato boats, sautéed spinach, a 60-minute egg and hollandaise ($24), homemade Chorizo Breakfast Sandwich topped with cheddar, applewood-smoked bacon, dijonaise, and a sunny-side up egg on a potato bun ($14), a Smoked Trout Benedict with potato cakes, 60-minute egg, sautéed spinach, dill hollandaise and salmon roe ($14), and Tasso-Spiced Pork Belly Hash with peppers, onions, crispy potatoes, egg and herbs ($14).
For brunch-goers with a sweet tooth, the menu offers indulgent, oversized Red Velvet Pancakes layered with whipped cream cheese frosting, powdered sugar and maple syrup ($12), Granola-Crusted French Toast with berry compote and powdered sugar ($12), Greek Berry Yogurt with house granola, vanilla honey and fresh berries ($9), and homemade Cappuccino Coffee Cake with an espresso glaze ($7).
“Between Two Slices,” guests will find lunchtime-perfect sandwiches and burgers such as the Shrimp Po’Boy with cornmeal-crusted shrimp, lemon caper aioli, and slaw on a pretzel roll ($16), French Dip featuring thin-sliced grassfed beef, horseradish aioli and Grayson cheese on a pretzel roll ($15), the chickpea/lentil/quinoa/barley-based Veggie Burger ($12) and infamous double-decker Greene Burger stacking two 6oz. bacon-infused beef patties, smoked gouda, crispy bacon, onion rings and bacon aioli on a pretzel roll ($24).
Known for its innovative craft cocktails and well-curated American spirit selection, Stanton & Greene’s talented bar team has created several signature brunch cocktails to pair alongside the food menu.
The fruit-forward Field of Dreams ($12) is made with Hayman’s Old Tom Gin, Giffard Crème de Framboise, Passoa, fresh lemon, sugar, soda, egg white and Peychaud’s bitters, while the High Treason ($12) gives diners a buzz in two ways, infusing Leopold’s French Press Coffee liqueur with Dickel 8-year, M. Brizzard Cacao and M. Brizzard Crème de Menthe. The Pamplous Gingerum ($12) spotlights the flavors of grapefruit and ginger, combining El Dorado 8-year rum, Pamplemousse, Domaine de Canton, fresh lime, cardamom and Angostura bitters, while the spiced fruit Daria ($12) mixes Becherovka, Laird’s Apple Jack, Leopold’s Sour Apple and Eve’s Perry Pear Cider. And the Cheeky Hugo ($8) is a light beer-tail, combining St. Germain, fresh lemon, Budweiser and Angostura bitters.
More traditional morning cocktails are also available, such as the Bloody Mary ($10) made with housemade bloody mix, vodka, lemon and pickled seasonal veggies (as well as a Bloody Maria made with tequila), Salty Dog ($8) with vodka, fresh grapefruit and salt, Corpse Reviver #2 ($11) with gin, Cocchi Americano, Cointreau, lemon and absinthe, Dark & Stormy ($11) with Gosling’s Dark Rum, lime and ginger beer, and fresh-squeezed OJ & cava Mimosas ($9).
