I started my evening out with a Hip Hop dance class at the Dance Place in Brookland. Ah-ma-zing is all I have to say. Check it out! After since two foodies/bloggers knew it was Restaurant Week in DC, we had to find somewhere to eat. We decided to check out Pennsylvania 6. This place is a twist on 20th Century ‘London Supper Club’ aesthetic. They even offered to take our coats right before being seated. I loved that. Very nice layout but on to the food. We started out with sparkling water and a signature drink.
I started out with the Belgian Mule which is a twist on a Moscow Mule. The Belgian Mule is made with white whiskey, ginger beer, strawberry lambic, and lime. It was perfect. They make some great signature drinks. My friend Morgan of Funemployment had the Treaty of Paris which was made with honeydew, elderflower, and prosciutto garnish. Very interesting mix but it worked.
The main course was the Vegetable Hot Pot which was flavorful. This dish was made with baby turnips, fall squash, yellow split peas, basmati rice, and curry sauce. This one is for my vegetarians. You won’t be disappointed. Morgn’s dish was just so pretty. She had the Yellowfin Tuna which made with Benton’s prosciutto, celeriac purée, spicy broccolini, and peppadew chimichurri.
I ended with the Spiced Apple Cake which was made with butter toffee pecans, caramel sauce, and bourbon-vanilla gelato. It was perfect. They topped it with a candle and glass of Prosecco to help me get an early start to my 30th birthday next month. The service here was superb. We came from a Hip Hop dance class so we weren’t really dressed up but this place makes you want to throw on something nice and have a nice dinner to go along with it. We met a lot of people on their management and events stuff. There might be some events in the near future at this beautiful establisheshment. I highly recommend to check this place out.
