I won’t talk about many times I had to re-write this post because WordPress doesn’t save drafts!!!! Ok well back on a good note, I started a new job and I have been busy! I don’t know where time went and I’ve been missing out on blog posts. I promise to be a little more consistent.
Well I entered a contest with 930 Club to win a night out with Little Dragon. And to my surprise, I won! I always let friends reap the benefits of my win so I invited one of my friends to enjoy. I won two tickets, four drink tickets to Rural Society which is connected to Loews Madison Hotel, and some credits from Hailo (come back to the U.S., please and thanks) to and from the concert. Now any true M.I.A. fans should know those lyrics…..I know I do. =) Well M.I.A. is back “with a vengeance”, as they said in the Express Newspaper, to take over all over again. I happened to hear some of her old music at a surprise birthday party on Friday and I was definitely wondering when she was coming back out with another great album.
Her new album is called Maya which talks a lot about government conspiracies but you must already know that she is going to have all of this over some of THE dopest beats. I personally can’t wait for this album to come out. I missed out on buying all of her other Cd’s so this one I am definitely purchasing.
Not sure of the release date but I’m sure that won’t be too hard to figure out.
I got invited out to go see K-Os and it was a pretty cool evening. I didn’t know half of K-Os’ songs except for “everyday is saturday night but I can’t wait for sunday morning!!!!’. I remember when my bff Marcus got me hip to that song, we would be singing it as loud as we could in the car….LOLOLOL!!! But all in all the crowd was hype so I feed off of energy and some of the songs had me ready to dance so I am still a fan. I also got his cd thanks to a friend. =) So I will be checking out his new music.
Thanks to my homie Allan Marco…..he hipped to the new Janelle Monae video. I got to see her perform this song live but the video does even more justice. I can not wait for her new album to come out. This video reminds me somewhat of Shutter Island….I like.
I wasn’t going to post anything about this music video because it seems to be on everyone’s blog but once I found out from reading Mean and Chic’s blog that Erykah Badu didn’t have any extras in the video, my mouth dropped. That woman is a bad b*tch (excuse my french) but that takes some guts and she definitely sent a message with that video in more ways than one. I felt like she touched on a lot of topics of today and how we are quick to judge something that is different or we don’t understand. I don’t condon walking down the street naked and walking around half naked in public, just not cool or classy.
I love E. Badu for her boldness…….she is amazing, it goes hand and hand with her music. Her album drops today!
I went to a concert on Monday to see Janelle Monae unaware that the doors wouldn’t be opening at 7pm but opening at 8pm and that the show was starting at 10pm which didn’t start until 10:20pm (highly upset). This place was very unprofessional and I am hoping that no one that I really want to see has a show there because they might have to count me out.
Janelle Monae on the other hand did amazing. She is like the cutest little person ever. I lover her style, her hair, and I swear she has the best set of teeth I have ever seen in my life (you now know how I close I was in the front…LOL). She did a song called Cold War (def added it to the blog playlist) and I mean this song was so tight….we were jammin for the little bit of time that we could stay because they started so dag on late.
Here is my up close and personal pic of her. My camera on my phone does me pretty well when I’m in a well lit area.
I found out from a friend that the infamous Janelle Monae will be here on Monday, March 15th. She will be performing at the Black Cat on 14th street at 8pm. I shall be getting my ticket Thursday night.
If you have never heard of Janelle Monae, I strongly suggest you google her and listen to some of her greatness.
